Piracetam is a nootropic drug that is used to improve cognitive function in children who suffer from
Down syndrome. The FDA has not approved Piracetam, yet the various pharmaceutical companies that produce the drug tout its ability to help children learn. A recent study suggests that not only does Piracetam fail to improve cognitive function in Down syndrome patients, but the drug may also cause
aggression, irritability, and
poor sleeping patterns.
