Collision Avoidance Training Program The
Collision Avoidance Training program is an advanced defensive driving class geared toward providing the average teen driver with all the necessary skill and understanding requisite of owning and operating his/her first car. The program was created by experts in the field of adolescent behavior,
car accident reconstruction engineering,
substance abuse counseling, and law enforcement training. The curriculum is based around the idea that most car accident involving teens are avoidable.
The “C.A.T.” program hopes to develop five basic skills where teens need further learning and experience: steering, acceleration, deceleration, backing, and skid control. It is hoped that the participants will gain insight into several techniques of driving during the program. The program also tries to drive home the concept that 35mph is a fast rate of speed.
Classes are taught by well-trained, high liability driving instructors who work one-on-one with students, allowing student to advance to the next level only after they’ve reached the proper level of skill. Students also receive the same degree of instruction that police officers receive in the C.A.T. program.
